Description
We are currently looking for two Python consultants for a 6-month assignment starting on 13 July 2026, with the possibility of extension. The work is performed on-site in Espoo, as it requires close interaction with production equipment and hardware.

The employment relationship will be with Barona Teollisuus, and you will work as a consultant in a high-tech production environment.

Responsibilities
Our client is currently modernising its production test automation framework. During this transition, the existing in-house Python-based framework (ROOMBA) must remain fully operational and continue to evolve to ensure uninterrupted production.

In this role, you will focus on maintaining and developing the current ROOMBA framework while supporting the day-to-day needs of the production line. This work is critical to enabling the internal team to concentrate on building the next-generation system.

Please note: this role does not involve working on the new framework. The scope is strictly ongoing production support and maintenance of the current system.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop the existing Python-based test framework (ROOMBA)

  • Write, update, and troubleshoot automated test scripts used in production

  • Support the production line in close collaboration with operators and test engineers

  • Ensure stability and reliability of test automation in a live hardware environment

  • Respond to day-to-day production needs with short feedback cycles.

What we are looking for

We are primarily seeking mid-level Python developers who are hands-on and able to contribute from day one.

Core requirements:

  • Strong practical experience with Python

  • Experience working in environments close to hardware (not purely software/web/data roles)

  • Hands-on experience with instrument control, including:
o SCPI and VISA for lab equipment (e.g. power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal and RF generators, electronic loads, spectrum/network analysers)

  • Interfacing with Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) via serial, LAN, or custom protocols

  • Ability to work in a live production environment and support operational needs

  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate directly with production teams

  • Fluent English (used in all communication, documentation, and code).

Nice to have:

  • Background in electronics and ability to troubleshoot hardware/firmware interactions

  • Experience with Jupyter notebooks

  • Familiarity with RF testing or production testing environments.
