What is Barona Careers?

Barona Careers is a digital job search platform where you can apply for all of Barona's open positions and receive personalized job recommendations based on your education, skills, and work experience. The advanced recommendation system helps job seekers find suitable positions faster and more effortlessly than ever before. In addition to job listings, Barona Careers offers articles, expert tips, and online courses to support your job search.

Is Barona Careers a paid service?

Using Barona Careers is completely free. You can create a profile, apply for jobs, read articles, and take online courses at no cost. Barona will never ask job seekers to pay for recruitment services.

Who can register for Barona Careers?

There are no specific requirements for registration. Anyone looking to apply for jobs, learn new skills, stay updated on the latest job market news, or plan their career can register for Barona Careers. Registration is quick and easy. The more complete your profile is, the easier it will be for us to match you with suitable job opportunities.

Can I use Barona Careers if I’m a student or have no work experience?

Absolutely! Whether you're looking for your first job, a side gig alongside your studies, or a permanent expert role, we have options for every life situation. Besides job opportunities, we recommend exploring our online courses and articles to support your job search and career planning.

Job Search

Can I apply for jobs in Finland even if I live abroad?

Yes. You can apply for jobs in Finland even if you're currently living abroad. However, keep in mind that the employer's timeline for starting the job may affect the selection process. If the start date is soon, employers may prioritize candidates who are ready to start according to the set schedule. If you're looking for jobs in the Nordics, you can find opportunities specifically targeted for people relocating from abroad at https://baronanordic.com.

Why is the same job posting published multiple times?

For some roles, employers are continuously looking for new talent, meaning there may be multiple open positions for the same role across different locations or cities.

Why am I not receiving job recommendations from Barona?

Ensure that you've marked Barona and Barona Careers emails as safe and checked your spam folder. You can also review and adjust your email settings in your Barona Careers profile. Job recommendations are based on your profile, so make sure to fill in your work history, education, and skills as thoroughly as possible.

Password and Account

How can I reset my password?

Go to the Barona Careers login page and click the "Forgot your password?" link below the login fields. The system will send you an email with a link to reset your password. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or contact our customer service for assistance.

I’m trying to log in, but the site says my email is already in use.

You are likely on the registration page. Please go to the login page and enter your username and password. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking the "Forgot your password?"

I no longer need my Barona Careers account. How can I delete it?

If you wish to delete your account, click on your profile picture on the homepage (top right corner) and select "Account Settings." You'll find the "Delete Account" option there.

Managing Your Profile (CV)

Do I need to fill out all the information in my profile?

You don’t have to complete all the information, but a more complete profile will give you more targeted job recommendations. The more detailed your profile, the better your chances of landing a job that interests you!

Why should I add skills to my profile, and how do I do it?

Your skills showcase to employers what you’re good at. You can add skills directly to your profile or link them to specific work experiences on your profile page. You can add up to 50 skills in total.

Why is creating a profile important, and why should I invest time in it?

With Barona Careers, you create your profile once and update it as your skills and experience grow. You can use our CV tool to help build your profile automatically from your existing CV. A carefully completed profile improves the job recommendations you receive and ensures you get the most out of your job search. Employers also actively search for talent on Barona Careers – a strong profile increases your chances of being discovered.

Applying for Jobs

How does the application process work on Barona Careers?

When applying for a job, follow the process instructions and fill in all the required information. The more complete your profile is, the better the recruiter can assess your skills, increasing your chances of being selected. Don’t forget to submit your application at the end. Once we’ve received your application, we’ll send you a confirmation email.

How do I write a cover letter?

We offer tips for writing a compelling cover letter. Check out our articles and online courses designed to enhance your job application skills.

How can I access my incomplete job applications?

You can save and finish your application any time before the deadline. To review incomplete applications, log into your profile, go to the Jobs page, and click the Applications tab. Please note that employers may sometimes close the application process before the deadline, so it’s best to apply for interesting roles as soon as possible.

How do I know if my application was received?

After applying and filling in the necessary details, click the Submit button. Once we’ve received your application, we’ll send you a confirmation email.

I’ve been selected to proceed in the application process. What happens next?

Our recruiter will contact you as soon as possible. All applications are carefully reviewed, and a high number of applicants may sometimes extend the recruitment timeline. We will personally inform candidates whether they’ve been selected for an interview or the position. We also reach out to applicants who were not selected.

I found a personality test in my profile. What is it for?

The personality test helps you assess your preferences, work style, and professional goals in a work-life context. Taking the personality test is optional and it is not used in the recruitment process. The test is based on the Big 5 framework, a proven and popular psychometric model for assessing personality in professional environments.

Can I get the results of the aptitude tests?

Aptitude test results are not directly available. Employers may use these tests to evaluate your fit for a role. If you'd like feedback on your application or interview, you can ask the recruiter for more details.

How can I cancel my application and reapply?

If you realize your application is missing something important, you can cancel it and reapply. To do this, log in to the Jobs page, go to the Applications tab, find your application, and click Cancel. Before canceling, make sure the position is still open and accepting applications. You can also edit your submitted application as long as the job posting is still active.

How does the Service use your data for automated processing

The Service uses a set of algorithms designed to improve the experience for both job seekers and employers. These algorithms help personalize and streamline your use of the Service—but they are never used to make hiring decisions. All job applications are always reviewed by real people. In building the Service, special care has been taken to ensure that algorithms are fair and do not show bias towards or against any specific user group. The summary below explains how the main algorithms work.

While the algorithms help surface relevant opportunities, they are never perfect. It is therefore important to regularly check job listings and keep your profile updated to get the best results.

Onboarding flow-based recommendations

The Service registration and onboarding flow is designed to tailor the experience to your needs. The goal of the onboarding flow questions is to understand your career interests, professional background, and skills so the platform can suggest relevant job opportunities. You can indicate your preferences by selecting interesting job titles, categories, or by creating a job seeker profile (essentially an online CV). Regardless of the method, your selected job category, skill set, and experience level are used to filter job listings, helping ensure you see the most relevant roles.

Location-based recommendations

The Service uses your location preferences to suggest job opportunities in areas you're interested in. You’ll be asked to specify preferred locations (such as cities, towns, or regions), which are then used to show relevant jobs on your Home screen when logged in. Please note! If you do not have location preferences, you can leave the location preferences empty or leave them at country level (e.g. Finland). You can update these preferences at any time under the Career Preferences tab in the Jobs section of the platform.

Profile-based recommendations

To receive the most accurate job suggestions and improve your chances of finding work, you're encouraged to complete your job seeker profile, so called Profile. This includes your work experience, education, and skills—essentially forming your online CV. The platform uses artificial intelligence based algorithms to match your profile with job openings by comparing your qualifications (such as skills, experience level, and education) with the requirements of available jobs

User Behavior-based recommendations

To complement other types of job recommendations, the Service monitors your job search behavior—such as the jobs you view and apply for—and provides personalized suggestions based on this behavior. The Service then recommends jobs with similar titles and competence profiles, and these recommendations evolve over time as your activity on the platform changes.
